Introduction to the process of tinplate production

2025-08-13

The process of tinplate includes acid pickling, cold rolling, annealing, leveling, trimming, tin plating, and oil coating.

Acid washing: 1. For the oxide on the surface of the original board. 2. For cutting edges and checking for defective original boards.

Cold rolling: mainly through pressure to make its thickness thinner. This can be done at room temperature.

Annealing: This process mainly adjusts the corresponding hardness according to the customer's purpose and requirements. There are two ways: 1) bell furnace annealing and 2) continuous annealing. The higher the normal hardness, the more commonly continuous annealing is used.

Flatness: mainly includes two aspects: 1) inspection of surface condition and 2) flatness of board shape.

Trimming: For small sizes, cut 5mm, while for normal sizes, cut 7.5mm.

Tin plating: Consideration should be given to factors such as concentration, humidity, and the environment for tin plating.

Oil coating: Under normal circumstances, apply DOS oil. To prevent sticking or rusting. But controlling the oil points above is quite difficult.
