Polish Food-Grade Chemical Drum Buyer Demands JIS Compliance
Company Profile: A Polish manufacturer of food-grade chemical additives (preservatives, emulsifiers, acidity regulators) sold to dairy and bakery producers across Central Europe.
Challenge: The customer's previous tinplate supplier delivered material that did not consistently meet JIS3303-2002 standards. Several shipments had tin coating weights below specification (averaging 1.9/1.9 instead of 2.8/2.8), resulting in surface oxidation and customer complaints about rust spots inside drums.
Solution Provided: We supplied 0.20mm Single Reduced T2.5 Electrolytic Tinplate Coil with 2.8/2.8 equal tin coating, fully certified to JIS3303-2002 and GB/T 2520-2000. Each coil came with a detailed Mill Test Certificate (MTC) showing actual tin coating weight measured via X-ray fluorescence (XRF). Surface finish: Bright Finish (B) for a clean, food-safe appearance. Annealing: CA (Continuous Annealed) for consistent properties.
Implementation: Trial order of 25 metric tons. The customer performed incoming inspection on every coil using a portable XRF analyzer to verify tin coating thickness at five points per coil (center and both edges).
Results:
-
All 25 metric tons met or exceeded 2.8/2.8 specification (actual range: 2.82–2.96 g/m²)
-
Zero rust complaints from downstream food additive customers over a 6-month period
-
The customer reduced their incoming inspection frequency from 100% to 10% after establishing trust
-
Audit-ready documentation satisfied their ISO 22000 food safety management system requirements
Customer Quote: "We've had three perfect shipments. The MTCs are accurate, the paperwork is clean, and our production line hasn't stopped once due to material rejection. That's the definition of a reliable supplier."
Follow-up: The customer has signed a 12-month framework agreement for 60 metric tons per month with pricing reviewed quarterly based on tin and steel market indices.
